Since as far back as I can remember, I always pulled out my camera (with 35mm film, back then) or video camera (with the VHS tape) to save the everyday moments that make life special. At a young age, I captured moments at athletic events, prom, birthdays, and anniversaries. I suppose I can be thankful for the support system that made sure a camera stayed in my hand, asking, “Aurelia, will you get a picture of this? Will you take a picture of that?” I was even the photographer/bridesmaid at my father’s wedding. I look back and smile thinking of it. Saving the special moments remains something meaningful to me because I understand how meaningful those moments are to you.
I started college pursuing a degree in photojournalism, but later switched degrees and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations. This transition showed me the how photographs truly impacts publicity and public relations with special occasions. The addition of my Master of Public Administration degree allows me to see the organizational impact the effective planning and visual story telling.
Marc Anthony said, “If you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life.” Well, I have photographed or video recorded countless individual portraits and special events over the last decade as part of responsibilities in professional, faith-based, or organizational roles. Doing what I love, I do not consider it work at all. The Bowling Green community sees examples of my love from photos at community events like Take Back the Night (SAAM), Love the Way You Life sexual assault awareness event, WKU Homecoming, and Dr. King Day events. In my position as a Communications & Marketing Coordinator, the photography, videography, event planning, public relations, media relations, social media, and publication design are endless. I am thankful for the opportunities to tell the stories of volunteers with the Buddy House for Down Syndrome, New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding, HOTEL INC, and many others through photography and/or video. Everyday, I am on social media promoting a service or event, working with the media to cover a story, or planning one of the 20+ events, training, or programs each year.
I look forward to meeting you and learning more about your special moments.
